10 Obvious Movie Bloopers We Can't Believe We Missed First Time

5. Baseball Caps - The Last Of The Mohicans

Somehow, The Last of the Mohicans is the only film for which the incredible Michael Mann has ever won an Oscar (for Best Sound). The film was acclaimed for its scale, drama, and Daniel Day Lewis' performance. Such is the epic proportions of the film that it is all too easy for the smaller details to be missed - mistakes that break the spell of being thrown back into the past.

In the film, the forces at Fort William Henry under the command of Colonel Edmund Munro have to surrender to the French general Louis-Joseph de Montcalm. In this scene, however, you can see some of the film crew in the bottom of the shot, all wearing baseball caps. On top of this, one of the crew - presumably the assistant director - is holding a megaphone.

The film is set in 1757, which is by some reports around the time that the earliest versions of baseball started to appear. Even so, baseball caps are pushing it slightly. For a film of such scale and prowess, mistakes like this creeping in spoil the illusion of the story - assuming of course you ever notice. It makes for a disappointing lapse in detail in an otherwise solid historical adventure.
