10 Off-Screen MCU Moments EVERYONE Wanted To See
Cap meets Red Skull again. Awkward.
As much of a crowd-pleasing enterprise as the Marvel Cinematic Universe is, it's also impossible for Kevin Feige and co. to ever fully do justice to every great idea they come up with.
And so, it's been relatively commonplace for potentially fascinating moments to get pushed to the periphery, ultimately happening off-screen no matter how much fans wanted to witness them for themselves.
In some cases it's simply a result of storytelling economy, that the filmmakers knew these scenes weren't totally vital for the movie to play out, and so made the tough decision to ditch them.
In others, the writers clearly realised the scenes would be tricky to pull off and possibly not worth the risk they posed to the rest of their respective movie.
And then there are those curious scenes which, while in no way vital to the overarching narrative fabric of the MCU, would've been fun to witness in some capacity.
While it's possible we could end up seeing a few of these off-screen moments in the future, you probably shouldn't get your hopes up. And before you ask - no, Uncle Ben's death didn't make the list, because we've all seen it enough already...
10. Thanos Destroys Xandar - Avengers: Infinity War
One of the many surprising elements of Avengers: Infinity War was that the film opened with Thanos (Josh Brolin) having already acquired the Power Stone from Xandar, destroying the Nova Corps and decimating the planet in the process.
It was a moment audiences expected to see, and one which was even included in earlier drafts of the script, yet was ultimately cut to avoid storytelling repetition.
While you can certainly see where the Russos and writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were coming from, it goes without saying that the sight of Thanos slaughtering the Nova Corps and wrecking Xandar would make for an eye-opening set-piece to kick the movie off.
Though many fans are hopeful that a flashback to Xandar's destruction could appear in a potential Nova movie, Kevin Feige might decide that there's just too much anticipation at this point, and so it's simply better left up to fans' imaginations.
The fans, of course, will beg to differ.
