10 Opening Movie Scenes NOTHING Like The Rest Of The Film

8. Kindergarten Cop

Kindergarten Cop

Kindergarten Cop is one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's more entertaining forays into big, broad studio comedy territory, and though the bulk of the movie is a shamelessly goofy comedy about an oversized cop, John Kimble (Schwarzenegger), going undercover as an elementary school teacher, you'd barely know it from the opening sequence.

The first 15 minutes of the movie sees Kimble capturing drug kingpin Cullen Crisp (Richard Tyson) after he murders a man, and then forcing his way into a drug den to track down an addict who witnessed the killing.

This toe-curlingly sleazy scene sees Arnie stalking through the den with a shotgun, knocking out anyone who gets in his way and firing off rounds to intimidate the remaining thugs.

It feels like a scene from an R-rated cop thriller, not a PG-13 comedy most of the family can enjoy.

Almost the entire rest of the movie is a silly comedy about a class of kids getting the better of man-mountain Arnie, and even when it whips back around to thriller territory again at the end, the tone isn't nearly as downcast and gritty as this.

RIP Ivan Reitman, you absolute madman - few filmmakers could get away with such ridiculous tonal shifts.
