10 Painfully Bad One-Liners In Otherwise Great Movies

4. "How Would You Feel About Growing A Beard?" - Beauty And The Beast (2016)

Beauty and the Beast was one of the earliest releases in Disney's now seemingly never-ending live-action remake franchise and it's still one of the strongest. Director Bill Condon's interpretation of Belle's world is equal parts mesmerising and fantastical - everything you want in a Disney film.

Beauty and the Beast's dialogue is pretty strong throughout but just when you're on the home stretch, this bad line drops right before the credits roll. Once the curse has been broken and Beast has returned to his human form, Belle states, "How would you feel about growing a beard?". It's another line that walks the fine line between sincerity and humour. Watson's half-smile suggests it's a little bit of both and this sincerity seals its fate as a bad line.

Belle's love for Beast has always been questioned for its slightly awkward promotion of beastiality - a conversation Disney certainly don't want surrounding their child-friendly film. This being the case, Belle should be thrilled to see Beast in his human form but this line just digs an awkward hole. The growl that follows makes it all the more wrong.
