10 Painfully Long Movie Marathons You Have To Do At Least Once

3. X-Men - 1,345 Minutes

Logan Trailer
20th Century Fox

The Films: X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: First Class, The Wolverine, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Deadpool, X-Men: Apocalypse, Logan and Deadpool 2.

How Long?: 22 hours, 25 minutes.

Why You Have To Try It: The X-Men series is certainly one of the more consistent long-running blockbuster franchises out there: only three of the eleven films can really qualify as bad, and they're thankfully peppered between some really strong and unique superhero offerings.

This series is especially interesting to watch in one fell swoop if only because it perfectly reflects how superhero films have changed over the last two decades. From their goofy, earnest origins through to the gritty, post-Batman years, and finally Fox's bold gamble on R-rated thrills, it really has it all.

Hugh Jackman is, of course, the one constant across the series, technically appearing in every single X-Men movie if a cardboard cutout and recycled archive footage count (they probably don't).

The mutant metaphor for social ills will probably feel a little exhausting after almost an entire day of these movies, but at least they're mostly well-paced, save for the turgid, 144-minute X-Men: Apocalypse.

Plus, best to do this now before Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants likely crash the party.
