10 Paranormal Horror Movies You Need To See Before You Die

Whilst it might be regarded as one of the classics today, it's hard to really imagine the true scale of just how shocking Rosemary's Baby must have been for audiences who first saw it back in the late 1960s. An important film for encouraging discussions about the roles of paranoia, faith, the liberation of women and Christianity in our society, Rosemary's Baby follows the story of a young woman who believes is on the verge of having her newborn infant stolen by a Satan-worshipping cult.

The mystery behind the baby's true parentage helps push this into the paranormal genre, and the lack of any real violence or gore makes the film's terrors all the more impressive.

Mia Farrorw's portrayal of Rosemary will always go down as one of the best solo performances in the history of the genre, and she honestly steals the show throughout her time on screen. For bringing the horrors of the paranormal into the homes of loved ones and blending together terrors with basic items and routines such as cooking in the kitchen, director Roman Polanski certainly also deserves his place amongst the greats.
