10 Past MCU Moments That Will Mean Something Big In Phase 4 And Beyond
2. Spider-Men Return - Spider-Man: No Way Home
If previous entries on this list are anything to lead off from, it seems that the next central direction the MCU is heading towards is the multiverse and everything that comes with it. This is something that fans have been speculating on for some time. However, the actual implementation of the concept came unexpectedly, and it all started with Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Initially, having multiple universes seemed pretty in line with what we’ve come to know from Marvel; seeing alternate versions of characters we already know happens all the time in the comics. Still, nobody could have guessed that the alternate universes from the MCU would comprise of previous Marvel films thought to have died long ago.
Case in point: Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, two Spider-Men whose franchises were canceled years ago and yet made a grand return in No Way Home, opening the possibility of other Marvel movies to join the cinematic universe.
With
Charles Xavier seemingly in the trailer for Multiverse Of Madness, we’ll likely see precisely this happen. Not to mention this moment introduces the possibility of Tobey and
Andrew themselves coming back in other future projects.
