2. Brandon Lee - The Crow
Alex Proyas's film The Crow almost single-handedly defined the rock-gothic supernatural action movie genre of the mid-1990s. Telling the story of a rock star who comes back from the dead after being murdered along with his fiancée by a criminal gang, it's a moodily-lit, rain-drenched revenge movie remembered for its striking compositions and wonderful performance from upcoming star Brandon Lee. It was to be Lee's final role. During the filming of an action scene in his character's apartment, a fatal error on the part of the props crew led to them unknowingly leaving a percussion primer in place at the rear of the cartridge. Having failed to properly check their weapons at all times, the gun was loaded with blank rounds with a squib load still inside - the load hit Lee in the abdomen, and he died shortly after in hospital despite desperate attempts to save his life. With this tragedy in mind, Lee's on screen presence seems to haunt the film - a great talent lost far too young.
