10 Pointless Characters In Horror Movie Sequels

With a franchise as long running as Friday the 13th, there are bound to be plenty of non-essential characters. They are entirely needed, as with out them, Jason would have nobody to stab, impale, or cut in half.

Even though many of these characters only serve one purpose, some of the movies do a good job of giving them something to do outside of being killed. Whether it's comic relief or aiding the main character in their journey, they serve the plot outside of just being brutally murdered.

This rule sadly doesn't apply to all the characters in the sixth movie in the series, Jason Lives. In particular, Steven and Annette, a young couple who are getting hot and heavily in the woods.

After hearing Martin the grave digger being murdered, Steven goes to investigate, alerting Jason to their presence. This gets them both killed in an underwhelming death scene in which Jason impales them both simultaneously.

According to director Tom McLoughlin, they were only added because he wanted to add a few more kills to the movie. While there is nothing wrong with this, their inclusion seems pointless when the death scene itself is so underwhelming. They might as well have been left out.
