10 Poor Versions Of Awesome Movie Characters With One Excellent Scene

1. Inspector Clouseau

The Amazing Spider-Man Andrew Garfield
MGM

Inspector Jacques Clouseau debuted in The Pink Panther (1963). Peter Sellers brilliantly played the incompetent French detective in what would be the first of many zany films. Sellers was Inspector Clouseau in six more films from 1964 to 1993. Alan Arkin, Roger Moore, and Steve Martin also portrayed the dimwitted inspector in films released from 1968 to 2009.

Martin’s films received the most criticism. The Pink Panther (2006) won two Razzies including one for ‘Worst Remake’, and The Pink Panther 2 (2009) wasn’t any better. The sequel also struggled mightily at the box office. However, the talented Martin gave Clouseau fans one classic moment.

Martin’s Inspector Clouseau attempting to learn an American accent proved to be the shining star in two unforgettable films. With the help of a linguistic coach, Clouseau practiced mastering how to say, “I would like to buy a hamburger.” The scene is priceless comedy at its finest.
