10 Post-Credits Movie Scenes That Changed Everything
9. Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Zack Snyder's surprisingly good 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead ends on a semi-hopeful note as the four remaining survivors, along with dog Chips, sail away on a yacht towards an island in Lake Michigan which they believe will keep them safe from the zombie plague.
But if you stick around for more than a few seconds after the end credits roll, you'll get to witness an extended, grim epilogue - footage the group recorded on a camcorder of their trip to the island.
Though the footage doesn't show anyone die, it does paint an incredibly dire picture of the survivors' prospects. A swarm of zombies attack the group once they make landfall, and then the camcorder drops to the ground. That's it.
Legend dictates that this scene was hastily shot late in post-production after test audiences found the original ending unsatisfyingly ambiguous. Either way, it certainly transforms the finale from mildly optimistic to almost totally hopeless.
