10 Post-Credits Movie Scenes That Changed Everything
5. The Green Knight
The Green Knight just doesn't seem like a movie that would have a post-credits scene, and so you couldn't really be blamed for not even bothering to check.
And yet, it's got a pretty damn pivotal one considering its potential implications, even if the particulars are ultimately left up to viewer interpretation.
The main film ends ambiguously itself, with Sir Gawain (Dev Patel) confronting the Green Knight (Ralph Ineson) and removing his invincibility girdle.
But at the end of the credits, a brief visual is shown of a young girl picking up the distinctive Arthurian Crown and putting it on her head.
While it's possible that David Lowery just shot this scene as a bit of a provocative lark to get people talking - and it's really just one of the crew members' kids playing around - naturally many believe the unidentified girl to be Gawain's daughter.
This would suggest that Gawain did indeed survive his encounter with the Green Knight, became King, and had children, but at the same time it's entirely possible this is merely an extended glimpse of the future Gawain imagines near the end of the film.
Either way, it certainly concludes the movie on an even more thought provoking and tantalising note than the already enigmatic final pre-credits scene.
