10 Potentially Awesome Movies Released In May 2015

6. The Tribe

The Tribe might technically fall into the category of foreign language cinema, but for the most part the deaf characters speak to one another in sign language, a bold and successful move on the part of Ukranian director Miroslav Slaboshpitsky. Sergey (Grigoriy Fesenko) enters a boarding school for deaf people and soon learns that he must adapt to survive, falling in with a gang of youths who commit crimes and prostitute out the girls. When he falls in love with one of the girls he's protecting he breaks the rules and falls foul of the titular Tribe, leading to awful consequences. The Tribe was favourably received at a variety of film festivals in 2014 so there's good reason to expect it to be worth a watch. It's also reportedly very violent, so if you don't like your films with a touch of brutality you might want to give this one a miss.
