10 Predictable Horror Movie Twists Everyone Saw Coming

5. 1408 - He's Still In The Room

1408 John Cusack
Dimension Films/MGM

Plot: Mike Enslin (John Cusack), a cynical author of books about haunted locations, goes to stay in a haunted hotel room and experiences a harrowing nightmare.

Considering that this was a studio horror film from the 2000s, 1408 is surprisingly good. It's far from perfect, but it is an unnerving, psychologically powerful horror flick led by a superb performance from John Cusack.

Still, it does have one hell of a predictable plot twist in the third act.

Earlier in the film, Mike had hit his head during a surfing accident and shortly after the hour mark in the film, Mike suddenly finds himself back on the beach. The implication is that it was all an elaborate hallucination and a few more scenes play out that seem to show Mike's life returning to normal.

But then, it's revealed that he's still the room after all, which we all saw coming.

The film still has half an hour left when it drops this twist and it's been established that reality is distorted a lot while in the room, so during the scenes where Mike is seemingly outside the room viewers will just be waiting for the inevitable reveal.
