10 Predictable Horror Movie Twists Everyone Saw Coming

4. Saw 3D - Lawrence Gordon Is A Secret Jigsaw Apprentice

Plot: A conman is put through a brutal test while Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor), who is apparently the final Jigsaw apprentice, tries to evade capture.

Ever since the original Saw shocked audiences the world over with its stunning twist ending, every subsequent film has concluded with a twist, for better or for worse. In the case of this awful 'final' instalment in the series, it was definitely for worse, since the twist here is laughably bad.

At the end of the film, the first movie's protagonist Dr Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes) is revealed as another secret Jigsaw apprentice. This is already a nonsensical twist that doesn't make sense (why would Gordon join the man who attacked his family?) but what makes it worse is how predictable it was.

Prior to this ending, Gordon had only been seen briefly in one scene; it seemed unlikely that he'd be brought back after all these years for a one-scene cameo, so it was clear he'd be seen later on and him being a secret villain seemed the most likely way this would happen.

But even if Gordon hadn't appeared until this ending, people still predicted this as soon as Cary Elwes' casting was announced; it'd been a fan theory for years. The only way this would've worked would've been if Elwes' part had been kept completely secret, which could've been done since the film was made before social media was quite as prominent as it now.
