10 Questions You Should Be Asking About Batman Vs Superman

5. Will It Tie Directly Into Justice League?

When Warner Bros. announced their slate of superhero movies, perhaps the biggest talking point was that the Justice League adaptation was split into two parts, set to hit theaters in 2017 and 2019 respectively. Looking at the upcoming release calendar, on paper at least it looks like Batman v Superman will have to set some, if not all the building blocks in place for DC's epic team up. Sandwiched in between the release dates for Dawn of Justice and Justice League Part One are Suicide Squad (August 5th, 2016) and Wonder Woman (June 23, 2017). Although Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor is slated to appear in David Ayer's antihero ensemble, the rumors have indicated that the project will have little bearing on Justice League and instead focus on a group of lesser-known characters. Wonder Woman's solo feature is currently slated to hit theaters just five months before the first installment of Justice League and while it would make sense for the project to put the finishing touches on the build-up to Justice League, focusing too heavily on an upcoming movie could ultimately harm the one being made (known as the Iron Man 2 effect). As the first female superhero to receive a standalone movie since the dark days of Catwoman and Elektra, Wonder Woman could potentially be a pivotal moment in the history of comic book movies if it turns out to be a success. With all of the recent announcements surrounding DC's shared cinematic universe and the ever-expanding cast of Batman v Superman, there is a real chance that Zack Snyder's currently-shooting blockbuster ends on a cliffhanger that sees numerous superheroes band together to defeat a powerful threat, rumored to be Braniac or Darkseid.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
