10 Questions You Should Be Asking About Upcoming Movies

8. How Will It Link To Harry Potter? - Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

Ever since Harry Potter ended, Warner Bros. has been struggling to find a new big family-friendly fantasy franchise. They distributed The Hobbit, but in terms of their own productions nothing's taken off. So what's they ultimate solution? Make more Harry Potters of course. That's right, we're going to be treated to more movies set in the magical world, rendering The Deathly Hallows: Part 2's statement of It All Ends null and void. J.K. Rowling is currently writing a film adaptation of spin-off book Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them for David Yates to direct. And, just as they've copied beat-for-beat Marvel's release pattern for their D.C. superhero properties, Warners are taking a leaf out of the The Hobbit's book and turning a slight book into an epic trilogy. Of course, at forty-two pages of mostly in-world non-fiction it's clear there's going to be a lot of embellishment, with the fake school-book 'written' by wizarding explorer Newt Scamander serving as a jumping off point for bigger adventures. Mooted to be set in the early 20th Century, Fantastic Beasts poses a lot of questions, the biggest for us being how close it'll tie itself to that boy who lived. The whole thing exists because of Harry Potter, so surely there'll be more than a passing reference to the character. Heck, we wouldn't be surprised if Daniel Radcliffe popped up for a prologue, Bilbo-style.
