Sorry, but there's an inherent reason directing veterans of the MCU keep cropping up - they can manage large budgets and arguably the bigger burden of expectations, and they often have good relations with Disney, and this is no truer than the case of Joss Whedon, who has almost become synonymous with Marvel.

Although Age of Ultron didn't hit the glorious heights of the Avengers' first teamed-up outing, Whedon is still the sort of director that Disney would throw Pinocchio into a wood chipper for in order to get him to sign the dotted line.

However, although Whedon is popular at Disney he has made it no secret that he would like to spend some time making films on a smaller scale now that his stint as the off-screen leader of The Avengers is over. He often lamented the amount of years that a massive blockbuster takes to make, and a Star Wars film would be equally as time-consuming.

Yet there have been consistent rumours linking Whedon to Star Wars spin-off movies, so let's all collectively hope that there is weight behind these whispers. A Boba Fett solo-outing with shades of Firefly is the stuff of geeky dreams.

Do you agree with the directors chosen, or do you think we should go back to shooting womp rats on Tatooine? Let us know in the comments below...
