10 Really Annoying Moments In Captain America: The Winter Soldier

6. Yet Another Money Shot Ruined By The Trailer

At any point in the climax were you doubtful that Cap' 'n' co. were going to succeed? Of course you weren't - not because this is a blockbuster requiring a happy ending, but because the solution is in the freaking trailer. It's a wearily common occurrence for a film's money shot to form a central part of the advertising. Even though it greatly lessens the wow factor when watching the finished product, studios already have your money by that point, so don't really care; it's more important for them to use the spectacle to get you in cinema. You wonder if modern audiences are so subdued by these excitement spoilers that they just take it their stride. In The Winter Soldier's case, it's the destruction of the helicarriers. The shot of one falling from the sky has been so essential to the film's marketing, attempting to show the general public this film wasn't just The Avengers-lite, that from the moment Fury introduces them it's obvious what's going on. The final sequence is still a lot of fun, but having that annoying little voice in your head (just us?) reminding you it's all going to be OK makes suspension of belief very tricky.
