10 Reasons Baby Driver Could Be The Surprise Movie Of The Summer

Ansel Elgort isn’t the only rising star in Baby Driver. Having recently headlined Disney’s Cinderella, impressed us with weighty roles in War & Peace and Downton Abbey, and kicked undead ass in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Lily James is one of the most promising young actresses currently breaking into Hollywood.

She plays Debora, the diner employee who Baby falls head over heels for and whose sharp blue waitress dress matches Baby’s shades when it comes to giving Baby Driver its cool Americana aesthetic. The sparky relationship between the two is what makes Baby want to quit the crime business, but Debora soon gets caught in the centre of the action.

This character type – the innocent love interest offering the protagonist an alternative to his life of crime – is admittedly something of an action movie cliché. However, James has the charm and the flair to make this romantic side of the story work; even in the short clips we've seen so far, her chemistry with Elgort jumps off the screen.

We can't wait to see her take part in the later action sequences, too – she may just be a waitress, but with a multi-talented star like James behind her, Debora is not to be under-estimated.
