10 Reasons James Bond Is A Terrible Spy

8. He Takes Things Too Personally

In the espionage game it's important to keep your feelings in check €“ you're there to do a job and the world doesn't revolve around your problems. Unless you're James Bond of course, who makes it his mission to take every assignment he gets personally, and the only way he's satisfied is if he's sexed/killed everything in the way of his goal. It's gotten to the point where MI6 don't seem to know what to do with him. He's the literal definition of a loose cannon. In Skyfall he takes the attack on Judi Dench's M personally, and does the same thing in various other films in which his latest fling has been murdered. The problem with the latter is that he generally puts them in danger himself and he knows it which leads to a vicious self-loathing and pent-up rage that are no use to anyone, scriptwriters aside. Perhaps he wouldn't feel the need to destroy quite so many capital cities if he wasn't in a constant psychological war with himself. In taking the actions of these villains personally he generally plays right into their hands and although he always escapes (mostly through luck). If he'd been able to successfully keep his emotions in check, the plethora of bad things that happen to him would be halved.
