When it comes to the world of cinema, one of the most refreshing - and exciting - things is watching the development of a new director. Jordan Vogt-Roberts has years of directing experience, working on TV shows like Mash Up and Single Dads and directing a bunch of TV movies.

His feature debut, The Kings Of Summer, released to critical acclaim, is a touching, coming-of-age tale about three teenage friends who spend their summer building a house in the woods and living off the land. Now, he's making a monster film.

A good film-maker is a good film-maker. With no constrictions based on expectation and with one good film under his belt already, Vogt-Roberts will be desperate to prove himself to audiences and to the rest of the industry. And such motivation can only be a good thing.
