3. Best Englund Performance
Robert Englund is Freddy Krueger. Everyone knows this, and it can sometimes be hard to believe that there are degrees of quality in his screen performances. Still, upon viewing the later sequels, there are times when you detect a lack of passion in his delivery and who could blame him, considering the material? The question is, which one was the best of all? The original featured a relative newcomer playing a novel character, and there was clearly more effort put into pulling it off than all-out chewing the scene. Part 2 saw them upping the creep factor, which was fine for the character, but didn't really let Englund off the leash. Dream Warriors stands out as the moment when he took the creepy role and really had some fun with it. It was indeed a slippery slope for the series to have him cracking wise at his victims, but many people unfairly forget that in its early phases, it worked extremely well. Say what you will, welcome to Primetime was a supremely well-crafted scene if you consider what a cruel and cold-blooded thing this is to say to an aspiring actress before smashing her skull through the very symbol of her every hope and dream. It was a perfect ad-lib to cap a quintessential 80's horror scene. Which brings us to
