10 Reasons Star Wars Visions Is The Future Of The Franchise

5. It's Telling Us Different Stories

One consistent knock against the Star Wars franchise since the concluding chapter of the original trilogy was its tendency to rehash plot points from prior instalments. The Death Star became a go-to Macguffin to drive the narrative of new instalments, which gave the whole enterprise a feeling like it was spinning its wheels.

Visions finally breaks free of the recycled feeling that plagued the franchise's cinematic instalments. While many of the episodes focus on the Jedi/Sith conflict that propelled the plots of the saga entries in the series, it has stand out episodes that present different dramatic scenarios.

In particular, Tatooine Rhapsody forgoes the usual action-heavy plotlines ubiquitous in Star Wars to show us how an inter-stellar rock band must use their wits to save one of its members from the nefarious Jabba the Hutt.

The episode T0-B1 also starts by showing us a young droid's quest to restore vitality to an ailing planet. These entries break the mould and demonstrate that it's possible for Star Wars to look beyond action spectacle to tell more human stories on a smaller scale, broadening the scope of what the franchise can offer fans moving forward.
