10 Reasons The Marvel Cinematic Universe Is Doomed To Fail
6. There's No Sense Of A Real "Timeline"
This might seem like a potentially minor "issue," but it's one that has become increasingly irritating as the franchise has expanded outwards: although the movies in the MCU are "connected" to one another as such, there's still no overriding sense of a timeline - we don't really know when things are happening in relation to one another, or where other characters are during the events of each movie. It's easy to say, "Well the movies are just in chronological order, so don't worry about it," but there's no real evidence to suggest such a thing is true. Without an established timeline, it's impossible to get your proper bearings on the chronology of the MCU; we can't work out how certain events affect other events because it's never established. We can presume that Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier were presented to us chronologically, but aside from characters saying things like, "Hm, the Battle of New York was crazy, huh?" we're none the wiser. As the MCU grows, this is only going to become more of a concern. There needs to be a better established sense of order.
