10 Reasons The Marvel Cinematic Universe Is Doomed To Fail

5. There Will Come A Point Where There Is Too Much Going On To Comprehend

Already a fairly noticeable issue in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the MCU has so many characters and plot threads inherent to it now that it's only ever going to get more confusing; already there's a sense of narrative chaos evident (given the foreshadowing of future movie events glimpsed at the end of every new installment), but as these films constantly try to dovetail together in a way that warrants another Avengers outing, the amount of information it's necessary to convey in each one will become noticeably ridiculous. And it's tough to avoid. After all, when you've built a world out of nine feature films with no end in sight, it's essential that you comb back through each and every one of the previous movies to ensure that continuity isn't an issue. To Marvel fans, continuity is the single most important thing that the MCU offers; to betray that is to betray the reasoning for even having a shared universe in the first place. At the rate we're moving now, though, it's not unreasonable to imagine that in three or four movies' time we'll just end up watching two and a half hours of catch-up exposition.
