Hardy has played alongside Daniel Craig before in Guy Ritchie's crime flick Layer Cake and despite Craig receiving top billing, it was Hardy's supporting part as a geeky yet dour criminal that stole the spotlight.

When asked by In Demand Showbiz about the possibility of taking over from his former co-star Daniel Craig as 007, Hardy hinted that a new approach was needed. He said: “I think Daniel Craig is doing an amazing job as James Bond. That conversation (about me playing James Bond) will never happen until they’re ready to move into new pastures. I think every boy wants to play James Bond to a certain degree!”
