10 Reasons Why 2016's Blockbuster Season Sucked

3. You Could Spot The Bombs A Mile Away

Every year there are a selection of movies that people look at and just know that they're going to bomb at the box office. The fact that Hollywood still green-lights and invests a huge amount into these projects anyway despite projections of doom and gloom from almost everyone outside of the studio system is even more baffling.

Sure, there are always a couple of surprises along the way (who would have thought that Steven Spielberg making a family movie for Disney would tank spectacularly?) but for the most part, it would be hard to imagine anyone being shocked when looking at the vast majority of 2016's biggest commercial disasters.

The Huntsman: Winter's War, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Gods of Egypt, Ben-Hur and Nine Lives are among the biggest box office bombs of the year. Was anybody surprised by this in the slightest? Maybe whoever signed off on making such crap, but that's pretty much it. If your target audience (you know, the people that pay to go to the movies) know your product is going to suck before it even gets released, you may need to rethink your strategy.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
