10 Reasons Why Dark Phoenix Is One Of The Greatest WORST Comic Book Movies Ever
4. The F-Bomb
Cyclops, of all people, gets to drop Dark Phoenix's solitary f-bomb.
Taking place right before one of the single greatest sequences in the entire film, the two supposed 'teams' of mutants come face-to-face in... dingy park and road. It's just a really, really cheap looking lawn set upon which they can all glare at each other and say the same lines we've heard a million times already.
"Hello, old friend" blurts Charles. "She's too dangerous" says another. "Jean's still in there," pleads her boyfriend, but Tye Sheridan's Cyclops apparently decides he hasn't gotten in anywhere near enough lines in this scene and takes a few dramatic steps toward the camera and tells Magneto, "If you touch Jean, I'll f*cking kill you".
This is a PG-13 film, meaning they had one f*ck to give. And they wasted it on Cyclops uttering a completely unearned and weakly delivered line like that. Even worse, the line delivery is captured in an insert and no one else ever even reacts to this line, so it might as well have happened in a vacuum.
