10 Reasons Why Marvel Will Never Make A Solo Black Widow Film

6. Kevin Feige's Shifty Responses

Journalists have asked Marvel head honcho about the possibility of a Black Widow movie ever since she first appeared in Iron Man 2 and for years, the studio boss has been notoriously cagey in his responses. Story development was briefly mentioned at one stage, but this was quickly swept under the rug in lieu of promises that Natasha's role would be hugely expanded in the Avengers sequel. Unfortunately, we now know that the script for Avengers: Age Of Ultron was not as kind to Black Widow as we were led to believe, turning her into a damsel in distress for a large portion of the films climax. The less we say about how her sterilisation turned her into a "monster", the better. Aside from the online backlash generated by Natasha's portrayal in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Johansson herself has shared her frustration at Marvel's treatment of the character, arguing that Captain America: The Winter Soldier was really a Black Widow film in all but name. Feige remains noncommittal about the prospect of a solo Black Widow movie, arguing that Natasha works far better onscreen in a team capacity. If the head of Marvel Studios himself is reluctant, then what hope is there?
