10 Reasons Why Marvel Will Never Make A Solo Black Widow Film

3. Lacks Definitive Story Lines

It's strange to think now, but back before Marvel Studios found success with their cinematic universe, many of their most iconic heroes weren't particularly well known outside of comic book circles. Thor, Iron Man, Captain America - each were famous in their own way, but their impact on pop culture was minimal compared to more recognisable characters like Batman and Spider-Man. Before Iron Man 2 was released, you would have been hard pressed to find a non comic book reader who could recognise Black Widow. Even within the comics, Natasha was rarely given her own title, instead relegated to a supporting role alongside Daredevil or the Avengers. As a result of this, she doesn't have many iconic storylines that use her effectively in a solo capacity. While Black Widow remains an important character within the comics, the lack of definitive plots concerning her and her alone make a solo adaptation tricky. Of course, Marvel are more than capable of writing a new script that captures the essence of a character, but her lack of solo success in the comics makes her a trickier proposition than other heroes in their canon. Saying that though, Marvel aren't exactly averse to risk-taking - just look at Ant-Man - so Black Widow still deserves her time in the spotlight.
