10 Reasons You're Getting Tired Of Marvel Movies

3. Marvel Movies Only Reference Marvel Movies

When Kevin Smith began using his own movies as reference points and started bringing characters together the way he did in Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back, he was savaged by Leonard Maltin, who called the picture a “giant in-joke comedy where the people on screen are clearly having a better time than we are in the audience.”

It’s apt that Smith, a comics fan who appears in Daredevil, should’ve created his own fictional universe, and telling that after a few movies he decided to shelve it and concentrate on other projects.

All this endless self-referencing guarantees is uniformity of product. Whether the director is an Oscar winner or a novice attempting his first blockbuster, the end result is like watching episodic television.
