10 Recent Horror Movies That Pissed Everyone Off

A horror movie about Jesus? Wow, that's quite a concept. Why not take it even further and add the king of overacting himself, Nicolas Cage, into the mix? Do that, and you've got The Carpenter's Son, a controversial 2025 film that somehow pissed off everybody.

Let's get the obvious out of the way first, as there was, naturally, a big backlash from the religious community regarding this picture. It's a movie that explores the young life of Jesus Christ, based on a non-canonical biblical text, battling against demonic forces and doing some pretty surprising things. The violence and horror led many to label the film as blasphemous, with review bombs galore. 

Any horror fan worth their salt would hear of this controversy and think, "Oh, goodie." But actually watching this biblical horror film resulted in anger on their side, too, as it's a frustratingly boring, repetitive watch. All that juicy controversy amounts to nothing with this flick, as it lacks decent scares and plods along at a snail's pace. For a movie so sacrilegious, you'd really expect more.
