7. Him (2025)
The trailers for Him promised a flick that, while not guaranteed to be amazing, would at least be an intriguing watch. It offered a compelling sports-based concept, a strong visual flair, a passionate performance from Marlon Wayans (whose dramatic acting skills are often overlooked), and the producing power of the legendary Jordan Peele.
Imagine having the odds stacked in your favour like that and still fumbling it. Come on.
Him's script, editing, and overall direction are nonsensical, especially in the ham-fisted presentation of the themes that all but scream in your face, with little to say. What could have been a compelling commentary on toxic masculinity and relentless obsession becomes an unintentionally hilarious outing full of failed shock value and barely any scares.
Naturally, promising viewers a groundbreaking movie only to pull the rug out from under them with a weird, ridiculous, and poorly executed final product is going to grind their gears. That's exactly what happened as the backlash to the film was brutal, with no one rushing to its defence, as seen in its abysmal box office performance.
