10 Recent Movie Choices That Pissed Off The Fans
4. Borderlands - The Chronically Miscast Leads
Borderlands might've ended up being one of the worst films of the decade thus far but, looking on the bright side, it was a dud that most saw coming - especially fans of the games.
It was clear early on that Borderlands wasn't respecting the source material enough. For starters, they were going for a PG-13 rating even though the games had usually been rated 18+, and then there's the matter of this containing some of the most blatant miscasting in recent memory. Namely, Cate Blanchett and Kevin Hart as Lilith and Roland Greaves respectively.
In the video games, Lilith is a character in her 20s, so why on earth did they cast Blanchett? Yes, Cate Blanchett is one of the greatest actors working today and improves almost anything she touches, but she is in her 50s now. As for Roland Greaves, he's meant to be a tall and muscular man, so casting Hart, known for his short stature - something he himself often jokes about in his stand-up, no less- was once again flat-out bizarre.
Did the people who produced this even play the games?
