10 Recent Movie Choices That Pissed Off The Fans

2. Captain America: Brave New World - Pretty Much All Of It

Captain America: Brave New World has received a B- CinemaScore, the lowest for an MCU film to date. There's a good reason for that. As well as being an abominably bad movie that comes terrifyingly close to being worse than Thor: The Dark World, many of the creative choices in the film just didn't sit well with fans.

For many, given how great Chris Evans was as Captain America, it's been hard to accept Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) taking over, especially as he became Captain America in an aggressively mediocre Disney+ show that has (thankfully) been forgotten by most who saw it.

Brave New World is also a picture that's clearly been butchered in the edit, and as a result, many characters are wasted. Both Betty Ross (Liv Tyler) and the Leader (Tim Blake Nelson), returning for the first time since 2008's The Incredible Hulk, are heavily underused, Giancarlo Esposito's villain is barely in evidence despite his presence in the trailers, and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) is wasted in a meaningless cameo.

As for the much-hyped appearance of Red Hulk, he only shows up in the last 20 minutes, and the film generally fails to move the MCU forward or give the new Captain America any sort of arc. It anxiously avoids making any sort of political commentary, indicating that this was a movie scared of pissing anyone off, but ironically enough, partly because it was so safe and inoffensive, it did just that.
