1. Doom - The Fantastic Four: First Steps

Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom may be taking the reigns from Thanos (Josh Brolin) as the MCU's next big bad, but the character has typically been a villain of the Fantastic Four. He is synonymous with Marvel's First Family, and in particular Reed Richards, and it feels as though he was always going to make an appearance in First Steps.

Just the association between the characters made this likely, as Doom has appeared in every Fantastic Four film to date, but this isn't the only reason an appearance from the man was essential.

Thanos didn't just jump right into Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, he was teased throughout the Infinity Saga, and while Marvel Studios has left it late in the game with less than a year to go until Avengers: Doomsday, there was always likely to be a little tease of him first. Naturally, First Steps was the perfect choice.

It was always likely going to be in the post-credit scene as well. Galactus (Ralph Ineson) was commanding of his own story without being drowned out by Doom, and realistically, what else was the film going to tease so close to Doomsday? A quick shot of him speaking to Franklin Richards, showing the iconic mask, was arguably the most predictable route to go, but it didn't need to be anything more.
