Now, it would be disingenuous to suggest that the new Captain America film has been as well-received as any of its three predecessors, yet it's also fair to say that expectations were absolutely in the toilet leading up to its release.

After numerous reports of poor test screenings and endless reshoots, it appeared that the project was in deep trouble and a probable trainwreck in the making.

But Captain America: Brave New World turned out to be a totally fine, watchable piece of work - nowhere near as compelling as what came before, for sure, but far from the unmitigated disaster so many had dismissed it as ahead of time.

The vibe among many fans seemed to be mild surprise that the new Captain America film was a passable entertainment rather than an all-timer dumpster fire, as had been parroted relentlessly online in the months prior to its release.
