After the first Smile ended with protagonist Rose (Sosie Bacon) succumbing to the central trauma demon, it was a fairly simple assumption that, in the interest of prolonging the franchise, Smile 2 might end the same way.

And so, most likely expected new heroine Skye (Naomi Scott) to similarly perish to the entity, but the predictability goes one step further, as the moment that Skye was revealed to be a pop star in the sequel's marketing, fans en masse figured out how the movie would probably end.

Many predicted that Smile 2 would climax with Skye killing herself at one of her concerts in front of thousands of her fans, and that's precisely what happens.

Yet while this was a blindingly obvious final sting in the story, it's also proof that the obvious choice is sometimes the right one, because it tees up one hell of a potential threequel, where the Smile curse has basically gone viral as a result of the mass trauma event at the concert.
