9. Havoc
Havoc was the hotly anticipated new action film from The Raid director Gareth Evans, and pairing Evans with a lead actor of Tom Hardy's intensity for a gritty crime action flick seemed like a match made in heaven.
But the bone-crunching promises of the film's title were near-instantly deflated just two minutes in, as Havoc kicks off with a car chase that appears to be largely constructed through CGI.
Rather than actually shoot cars darting around city streets, Evans inexplicably pulled it off mostly in post, yet the end result looks more like a mediocre Unreal Engine 3 demo than anything that might pass convincing muster in a high-budget Netflix action film.
The physics and overall animation of the vehicles don't feel even remotely believable, ensuring this supposedly grounded actioner near-instantly feels like a video game - and not in a good way.
Though there is some solid action throughout Evans' film - none of which involves vehicles - this disappointingly junky opening sequence immediately assured viewers that they wouldn't be getting anything on the level of Evans' Raid films, sadly.
