10 Recent Movies That Wasted INSANE Casts

The Amateur is far from a bad movie. It's a perfectly serviceable and watchable - if totally forgettable - thriller romp that'll remain in the Dad Movie rotation for a good while, no matter that it does next to nothing for its ludicrously distinguished ensemble.

In addition to starring Oscar winner Rami Malek, the cast is also filled out by Oscar nominee Laurence Fishburne, three Emmy winners in Rachel Brosnahan, Jon Bernthal, and Julianne Nicholson, and also the ludicrously talented Holt McCallany, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Caitríona Balfe.

The problem is, nobody's asked to do a whole lot here. Some found Malek miscast as a twitchy vigilante, and even if not, he's not invited to do much more than go through the motions. Most of the other name actors stick around for just a few scenes before going on their merry way, most criminally Jon Bernthal, who rocks up early on, disappears for most of the movie, and returns for a single scene before vanishing again.

With so much acting firepower at its disposal, it's shocking how little The Amateur does with them.
