10 Recent Movies That Wasted INSANE Casts
8. Another Simple Favor
Considering that Paul Feig's A Simple Favor was mostly acclaimed for the performances of its cast - especially Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively - it stood to reason that the same would be true of recent sequel, Another Simple Favor.
But wasn't this as blatant a cash-in sequel as they come, or what?
Even though Kendrick and Lively certainly tried their damnedest to salvage this mess, the low-effort script gave them almost nothing worthwhile, ensuring they were left rehashing the same shtick they did the first time.. but less fun, less witty, and less basically compelling.
Other returning cast members, such as Henry Golding and Andrew Rannells, were also hung out to dry, while newcomers like the brilliant Elizabeth Perkins and Allison Janney were stuck collecting paychecks in strangely unremarkable supporting parts.
Considering how successful the first film was, and how much of that success was due to the chemistry of the cast while working with a gleefully campy script, it was hugely disappointing that this direct-to-streaming follow-up dropped the ball so clumsily.
