10 Recent Movies That Wasted INSANE Casts
7. Captain America: Brave New World
It's easy to lose count of the sheer number of times that Marvel Cinematic Universe movies have filled themselves out with brilliant actors, only to give them diddlysquat. And Captain America: Brave New World is just the latest instance.
Leading the charge, we've got poor Anthony Mackie forced to try and sell himself as the new Captain America in a patently uninteresting espionage narrative, while the brilliant likes of Giancarlo Esposito and Tim Blake Nelson are given forgettable villain roles they could probably act out in their sleep.
However, the biggest calamity here is not only hiring Harrison Ford to replace William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross, but finding him surprisingly engaged and ready to work, and yet doing absolutely nothing interesting with his character.
This isn't to forget the fact that Liv Tyler also shows up briefly in a part so unsubstantial you might've already forgotten she was in it at all. And the wider supporting cast, including Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, and Carl Lumbly, are clearly game, but saddled with only the most basic dialogue and generic action.
