10 Recent Movies That Were Forced To Shut Down Production (And Why)
8. Bohemian Rhapsody
In what must've been a bizarre turn of events for the cast, the crew and the studio, the original director of Bohemian Rhapsody, Bryan Singer, did not return to the set of the movie when his 2017 Thanksgiving break had concluded.
By all accounts, the filming of the biopic was moving along at an efficient pace for the first couple of months, but when Singer failed to show up, Fox was forced to halt production.
One of Singer's representatives eventually stated that a family health matter was to blame for his absence, and that he would get back to work "soon", while other sources revealed that the producers were growing tired of Singer's behaviour, with the director consistently showing up late to the set.
Whether the true reason for Singer's "unexpected unavailability" - as Fox called it - was a personal problem or behind-the-scenes drama, it still resulted in the production being delayed and the director being fired, with Rocketman helmer Dexter Fletcher being brought in as his replacement.
