10 Recently Announced Movies That Will Probably Never Happen

This Is Spinal Tap is one of the most iconic comedies of all time - an outrageously funny rock music mockumentary helmed by the great Rob Reiner.

And though Spinal Tap has largely been accepted to be a one-and-done, lightning-in-a-bottle project, back in May Reiner revealed that he's currently working on a sequel, with original cast members Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer all set to return.

But the typically prolific Reiner hasn't directed a film since 2017, and at 75 years of age, every year it doesn't get made makes it considerably less likely it ever will. Plus, if Reiner's sadly not around to make it, it's incredibly unlikely the cast would agree to return.

As beloved as Spinal Tap is, it'd be so easy for a four-decades-later follow-up to join the pile of embarrassing belated comedy sequels, especially given that Reiner's last critically acclaimed film was The American President, released all the way back in 1995.

That's not to say his enthusiasm for the project isn't there, but getting Spinal Tap 2 off the ground with all major personnel involved doesn't seem terribly likely.
