10 Ridiculous Horror Movie Villains That Shouldn’t Have Worked… But Did

9. The Mother - Barbarian (2022)

Helmed by Zach Cregger, Barbarian is one of the wildest, grizzliest, and strangest horrors in recent years. The film opens with a woman, Tess (Georgina Campbell), arriving at a house she’s booked to stay in while in town. But when she gets there, she discovers that the place has been double-booked and a stranger (Bill Skarsgård) is already there.

But something in that house isn’t right. And when the pair discover a secret door in the basement, events take a disturbing and violent turn. Part of the fun of this film is uncovering its delights for yourself, so if you don’t want to know what’s lurking in the house stop reading now.

Terrorising the home and the surrounding neighbourhood is a deformed, naked woman known only as The Mother (Matthew Patrick Davis). From her first squelchy kill, this unexpected sight takes viewers by surprise, and it only gets stranger from there. All she wants is a baby of her own, so she imprisons her victims and forces them to breastfeed (yes, really)

As far as horror villains go, The Mother is one of the most outrageous. But Barbarian takes its peculiar premise and goes all-out to deliver an unforgettable viewing experience.
