5. The Avengers Fight The Chitauri...Again (Avengers: Infinity War)

The Rumour: A casting call went out late last year making it clear that Avengers: Infinity War will feature a litany of alien creatures, described as tall, athletic and featuring prosthetics and full body paint.

Doesn't this sound a lot like the Chitauri, the aliens who appeared in The Avengers' Battle of New York? Could Thanos be making use of the extraterrestrial army once again?

Why It Shouldn't Happen: The Chitauri were pretty damn underwhelming the first time, so it's hard to believe they'll be anything more than anonymous Avengers-fodder this time too. It would feel like the MCU repeating itself unnecessarily when Thanos could easily make use of another alien faction from the decades of Marvel lore.

How Likely Is It?: It's definitely quite possible, but hopefully the Russos will appreciate that Infinity War could do with a fresh batch of creatures en masse for the superheroes to dismantle. 6/10
