Everything Everywhere All At Once was one of 2022's most acclaimed movies, though there was some minor dissent from those who believed the film to harbour an anti-Semitic sentiment.

The controversy stems from the minor character played by Jenny Slate (a Jewish actress), who is referred to as "Big Nose" by protagonist Evelyn (Michelle Yeoh), and was also initially credited in the film as "Big Nose."

Some felt that this was playing excessively upon physical stereotypes of Jewish people, though filmmakers Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert later clarified that, in Chinese culture, "big nose" is a term often used to refer to white people in general, not specifically Jews.

Nevertheless, the directors did appreciate that some were bothered by Slate's character not having an actual name, and so for the movie's digital release re-named Big Nose to "Debbie the Dog Mom."

Despite some corners of the Internet calling for a wider boycott of Everything Everywhere All At Once, it evidently didn't happen, as the film went on to win seven Oscars, including Best Picture, and gross $140 million globally.
