10 Ridiculous Movie Plots That Sound Like Fan Fiction (But Are Real)

Dimension

There is a medical tool in this film that resembles a machete. Apparently hospitals in the future need machetes for surgery. Yes, that is the detail to focus on, not the fact it takes place in space.

Okay, okay the whole outer space part of the movie is the real fan fiction part. For some reason, students now travel in spaceships and visit the now-abandoned Earth One. Yeah, the writers here were not big on world-building. They kept things incredibly simple. The entire premise centers around one core idea: what if Jason murders a group of kids again, but this time it's in a spaceship?

Give credit where it is due though because Jason X is memorable. The entire Friday the 13th series was played out by the time this movie came out in 2001. At least the creators of Jason X were trying a different setup. It’s an epic failure on par with the worst fan fiction out there, but at least it’s unique. No one will ever forget the time Jason went to space and managed to wreak havoc on a bunch of teenage astronauts. That fact alone is enough to call this movie a success.
