6. Katrina & The Waves - Walkin' On Sunshine
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPUmE-tne5U Katrina and The Waves' smash-hit song Walkin' On Sunshine is an enduring feel-good classic, and that's sort of the problem; it's a hugely popular song and so advertisers and filmmakers love to throw it in their projects to spruce things up. It's typically used to convey the fact that a character is in a good mood, such as in Look Who's Talking, High Fidelity, Daddy Day Care and Bean, but occasionally, as in American Psycho, it will be used in satirical fashion, an ironic juxtaposition of the chirpiness of the song and Patrick Bateman's demented demeanour. Perhaps this song gets away with it a little better than most because there's no way the song can be taken seriously, but it's still woefully unoriginal and is well past the point of being cute and funny now.
